October 1-3, 2011 - Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta
While at Woods Canyon Lake in Arizona, we heard that the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque was to be held the first week of October. We decided to change our route to spend a few days there. We found we could get an RV spot about a half-mile from the event on the fiesta grounds, and have shuttle bus service right to the balloons. Put this event on your Bucket list - it was more than we could have expected.
At 7 am on Saturday morning, we heard a SWOOSH above us, and saw our first balloon. Soon, the sky was filled with them, and we found out later that this was a record mass accenction, of some 350 balloons! Over the course of our stay, we saw most of the 550 balloons taking part in the event. On these next few pages are some shots of the near 300 pictures we took.....
